About

We are children of God, who joyfully welcome all as we worship, pray, grow in faith, and share God’s love.

Eckert Presbyterian Mission Statement

Eckert Presbyterian Church is a congregation of the Presbyterian Church (USA) located in Eckert, Colorado. We are a traditional, local church that has served the Surface Creek Valley area of Western Colorado since 1913. Many of our members are direct descendants of the founders, who also built the current church building.

Our beliefs are congruent with the broader Reformed Tradition that grew out of the Protestant Reformation. We tend not to wear our doctrine on our sleeves, and instead seek to engage others, both long-time members and those very new to our church, with the Love of Jesus Christ. While we are not afraid to mix it up regarding doctrine and even politics(!), we tend to check our sectarian tendencies at the door so that we might care for one another. Unity and care for our congregation and our community are at the top of our values.

Sunday morning services and fellowship, starting at 10:30am, are the heart of our church. The message is given by our Pastor Keith Vandegrift, along with piano and organ music to accompany our traditional hymns and choir. The Mountain Echoes Bell Choir plays once a month. Our membership is dominated by those who appreciate traditional worship. We find many people of multiple generations who prefer a quieter, perhaps more reflective, worship experience. Don’t let the idea of quiet worship deceive you! Our vigorous congregation is full of servants who work hard to oversee and execute the work of the ministry here. Our church also hosts book studies, education classes, and a number of community clubs and events.
